At Loop in Philadelphia, our knitting classes are designed to do more than teach stitches—they’re here to build your skills, boost your confidence, and inspire you to tackle the projects you’ve always wanted to make. Whether you’re casting on for the very first time or ready to expand your repertoire, our supportive instructors will guide you every step of the way in our welcoming South Street shop.
Our Learn to Knit series—Knit 1, Knit 2, Knit 3, and Knit 4—offers a solid introduction to knitting’s essential skills. You’ll progress from casting on and binding off to shaping, pattern reading, and finishing techniques. By the end, you’ll not only have completed projects but also the confidence to take on new challenges.
For knitters who already know the basics, we offer project-based classes that let you learn through doing. These cover intermediate and advanced skills like cables, lace, colorwork, or sweater construction, all while creating a finished piece you’ll be proud to wear or gift.
If crochet is more your style - or you’re curious to learn something new - our Learn to Crochet series offers the same supportive, step-by-step approach. In Crochet 1, you’ll get comfortable holding your hook, making foundation chains, and learning basic stitches like single and double crochet. Crochet 2 builds on those skills with flat motifs made in the round and reading patterns, while Crochet 3 adds shaping to working in the round, so you can tackle garments and accessories. Like our knitting classes, each session focuses on learning through making, so you leave with both new skills and a project you’re proud of.
Above all, Loop’s classes are about community. Learning is more fun—and more effective—when it’s shared. Join us in our Philadelphia shop at 1914 South Street and connect with fellow makers as you grow your knitting skills.
Our classes are designed to be small, supportive, and hands-on. To make sure every student gets the attention they need, class size is limited to 8 students and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All classes are held right here at Loop, 1914 South Street, Philadelphia.
We understand that schedules can change, and we do our best to be flexible while keeping our classes running smoothly:
If our scheduled classes don’t fit your calendar, we also offer private lessons Monday through Friday at $36/hour plus materials. These one-on-one sessions are tailored to your needs, whether you’re just starting out or working on a specific project.
