The Tulip Cowl uses a beginner-friendly slip-stitch pattern to create rows of alternating dots that remind us of a field of flowers. Knit with Sandnes Garn’s wonderfully soft Double Sunday, it’s warm, cozy, and easy to wear—just the kind of piece you’ll reach for again and again.
The body of the cowl is built on a simple eight-row repeat, with half knit rounds and half slip-stitch rounds. You only work with one strand at a time, so there are no charts to follow and no yarns to juggle. Each of the three colors is used often enough that you can carry the unused strands up the inside, which means fewer ends to weave in (always a win).
Double Sunday is a 100% merino wool yarn that feels soft and comfortable against the skin. It’s also responsibly sourced—Sandnes Garn wool comes from sheep that are well cared for and not subject to mulesing. We paired Cognac, a spicy orange, and Blackberry, a deep purple, with Almond’s warm cream for a color combination that really pops, but the palette is full of beautiful, wearable shades. - Sandnes Garn Double Sunday [100% merino; 50 g / 118 yards (108 meters)]: 2 balls for Color A, 1 ball each for Colors B and C (shown in Almond, Blackberry, and Cognac)
- US 6 (4.0 mm) 24-inch circular needles
