Lace Weight Yarn

Laceweight yarns produce airy, delicate fabrics. The thinnest of the yarn categories, it’s most often used for shawls, wraps, and projects where softness and drape are key. Unlike heavier yarns, lace weight is usually knitted or crocheted on larger needles or hooks to create open, lacy patterns. Because it can be used in so many different ways, gauge is difficult to standardize, so it’s always best to follow the recommendations in your pattern.

Many of our laceweight yarns are spun in luxurious blends of mohair and silk, prized for their halo, sheen, and featherlight feel. They are beautiful when knit alone, but can also be carried along with yarns of other weights to add depth, softness, and glowing texture. Our own Loop Posy—a hand-dyed mohair and silk blend—is a perfect example, luminous and ethereal whether used solo or paired with another yarn.

At Loop, we carry a thoughtful selection of hand-dyed and natural-fiber lace-weight yarns designed to inspire timeless, delicate projects you’ll love to wear.
