We made our Marled Striped Shawl with Isager's Alpaca 2 + Silk Mohair. This lightweight fabric is so soft and cozy!
Isager's yarns are designed to be held together to create unique fabric combinations. The color palette is one of our favorite things about Isager, and stranding 2 colorways creates a gorgeous marled fabric!
Alpaca 2 is a 50/50 blend of wool and alpaca. These heathered shades keep the softness of alpaca but the structure and body of wool. Silk Mohair adds a halo of softness and warmth, along with the subtle sheen of silk!
Our Marled Striped Shawl is knit from the top down. To create the sheer stripes, you hold the 2 yarns together for the first section and then drop the alpaca and knit just the mohair for the second section. You continue on alternating these two sections until the end of the shawl- easy peasy!
We chose 2 colorways in the same color family - a lighter color in Alpaca 2 and a darker Silk Mohair. This creates the marled stripes. Increase the contrast for a more tweedy look, or match colors for a more uniform appearance.
