The Halo Hat is one of our favorite classic beanies — simple, flattering, and endlessly wearable. This time, we knit it with a soft, lofty twist: one strand of MODE at Rowan Alpaca Wool held together with one strand of MODE at Rowan Alpaca Haze.

The result is a lightweight hat with beautiful warmth and the gentlest halo. Alpaca Wool gives the fabric structure and elasticity, while Alpaca Haze adds a soft, airy glow that makes the stockinette feel plush without heaviness. Held together, the two yarns create a fabric that’s cozy, refined, and incredibly comfortable against the skin.
The Halo Hat pattern features a classic 2x2 ribbed brim and a smooth stockinette body with simple crown shaping. It’s straightforward to knit and lets the yarn really shine. The finished shape is relaxed but polished — easy to wear with everything from a wool coat to your everyday jacket.
We love this project as an elevated basic: simple to knit, luxurious to wear, and perfect for gifting.
