The Frankie Sweater by PetiteKnit combines classic stripes with a relaxed, easy-to-wear shape that’s perfect for fall and winter. We knit ours with Kelbourne Woolens Scout, using Oatmeal for the main color and Cinnamon for the stripes. The warm, heathered shades give this timeless combination extra depth and character.

About the Yarn
Kelbourne Woolens Scout is a DK-weight yarn spun from 100% Peruvian Highland wool. Each 100-gram skein contains a generous 274 yards.
Scout has a classic woolly character with a soft, modern feel. Its 2-ply construction creates beautiful stitch definition, while its heathered colors add richness to even simple stockinette. The yarn has enough structure to help a sweater hold its shape and softens and blooms beautifully after washing.
Design Details
The Frankie Sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down with raglan increases shaping the yoke. Short rows are worked along the back of the neck to improve the fit, and the body and sleeves are knit in the round.
Narrow stripes continue throughout the sweater, creating plenty of visual interest without requiring complicated colorwork. Because only one color is used at a time, it’s an approachable way to knit a colorful garment.
The Frankie is designed with approximately 7¾ inches of positive ease for a relaxed, oversized fit. Measure around the fullest part of your bust or upper body and follow the pattern’s sizing guidance before choosing your size.
Scout’s palette of heathered neutrals, rich colors, and classic shades makes it easy to create your own combination.

Needles:
US 6 circular needles in 16-, 24-, 32-, and/or 40-inch lengths, plus US 4 circular needles in 32- or 40-inch lengths. You’ll also need US 6 and US 4 double-pointed needles or your preferred needles for working small circumferences.
We used KnitPro Dreamz circular needles for our Frankie. Their polished birch tips feel warm and lightweight in your hands, with enough grip to keep your stitches comfortably under control.
Gauge:
20 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on the larger needles.
Always choose your size and purchase yarn according to the pattern’s measurements and yardage requirements. We also recommend buying a little extra when your required yardage falls close to the total yardage in your skeins.
