Marled Striped Shawl in Koan

Summer is just beginning and it's time to cast on for warm weather knits! Our new Marled Stripe Shawl in Shibui Koan is just the thing to kick off the season!

We used two colors of Koan, ash + tar, to make our new shawl. Koan is a linen and silk blend that has gorgeous drape. This fingering weight yarn is light and smooth with a subtle silk luster.

In our shawl, you hold 2 strands together to make the body of the shawl, and you drop one strand to create the stripe. Using two strands of different colors creates the tweedy marled look and helps the project move a little faster on a larger needle. You'll be able to cast on and wear it THIS summer!

The Marled Summer Shawl is generous size & drapes easily over the shoulders to keep off the air-conditioned chill. Or, wear it the point in front with a summer jacket for a little handknit kercheif-style flair!

We used neutrals for our shawl, but Koan has a cheerful, colorful palette perfect for summer. Our favorite combinations are shown above; I think the darker color at the right of each pairing would be best as the stripe, but there is no reason why if couldn't be the other way around!
To make the Marled Stripe Shawl, you'll need:

2 skeins each of 2 colors of Koan - we used ash + tar.
US7 24-inch circular needles
Free pattern with yarn purchase- we will email you the pattern when we ship your order.
