Come meet other knitters and learn from our talented teachers in a bright and comfortable setting! Classes are limited to 8 people and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The class fee is required to reserve your space. We need a minimum of three people for each class so, get your friends to sign up with you! You'll receive a full refund if the class is canceled or if you withdraw at least 7 days before class begins. You'll receive a 50% refund if you withdraw from the class within 7 days of it starting. $24 for one 1.5-hour session
This class is perfect if you want to get a little taste of knitting or as a refresher if you haven't knit in a while. You'll learn to knit, cast on, and bind off, which will allow you to get started on your first scarf. Quick Start Crochet

Learn to chain, single and half double crochet, and enter the world of crochet! You'll be ready to start your first crocheted scarf or to add edgings to your knitting. Beginning Knitting
$106 for four 2-hour sessions, yarn and needles included
Designed for absolute beginners and as a refresher for those who haven't knit in years, you'll get a solid foundation of knitting fundamentals in our beginning knitting class. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and decrease while knitting your first scarf and hat. Yarn and needles are included. Fixing Mistakes
$20 for one 2-hour session
Knitting is much more fun when you can fix common mistakes. Learn to correct mistakes a few stitches or a few rows back and much more. Supplies: You'll need 50 grams of white or light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 7 needles. This class has homework, which you'll receive when you register. Finishing

Learn to sew together knitted fabric and to pick up stitches for edgings and button bands. Supplies: You'll need 50 grams of white or light-colored worsted weight yarn, size 7 needles, stitch holders, and a tapestry needle. This class has homework, which you'll receive when you register. Alternative Knitting Styles
$20 for one 1.5-hour session
As with many things, there's more than one way to knit and purl. In this class, you'll learn to knit Continental and Portuguese. Supplies: You'll need 50 grams of white or light colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles. Top-Down Pullover
$80 for four 2-hour sessions
More and more knitters are making sweaters in the round with no seams. To learn this technique, you'll knit a baby-sized pullover in the round from the neck down. Supplies: You'll need 200 yards of worsted weight yarn, 16 inch size 5 and 7 circular needles, size 5 and 7 dpns, stitch markers, waste yarn, and a darning needle. Seamless sweaters aren't always knit from the top-down. Learn to knit a sweater from the hem up, as you make a baby sweater. Supplies: You'll need 200 yards of worsted weight yarn, 16 inch size 5 and 7 circular needles, size 5 and 7 dpns, stitch markers, waste yarn, and a darning needle. $60 for three 2-hour sessions
The February Lady Sweater is an adaptation of Elizabeth Zimmerman's Baby Sweater on Two Needles resized for adults. Knit with worsted weight yarn, it is a great introduction to both top-down and lace knitting. Supplies: You'll need to print out and bring a copy of the free pattern and enough worsted weight yarn for your size. Please come to the first class with a garter stitch swatch approximately 4 inches square. Mittens

Keep your hands warm this winter with a good pair of hand knit mittens! Mittens are fun to knit and make a great canvas for stitch patterns, cables, and colorwork. They're easy to carry around with you on your winter travels and they make great gifts! Supplies: You'll need 100 grams of worsted weight yarn and size 7 double-pointed needles; the pattern is included in the class fee. Cables

Cables add interest and texture to everything from scarves and hats to sweaters and afghans. In this class you'll get an introduction to making cables with and without a cable needle. Then use what you've learned to make your first cabled knit. Supplies: You'll need 100 grams of white or light-colored worsted weight yarn, a 24 inch size 7 needle and size 7 double-pointed needles. Fingerless mitts keep your hands warm and your fingers free; great for cold offices! Learn to knit our favorite pair of easy fingerless mitts using the Magic Loop - a technique for knitting small tubes in the round with one long circular needle. You'll need a 40 inch size 6 circular needle and 50 grams of DK weight yarn. |
Baby Surprise Jacket
$64 for three 2-hour sessions
Elizabeth Zimmerman's classic Baby Surprise Jacket is knit flat in garter stitch. Sounds easy, but it's hard to see how it will become a jacket until the end; and even then some can't figure it out! You'll need 100 grams of fingering weight yarn and a 32 inch size 4 circular needle. The class fee includes the expanded version of the pattern, which includes sizing for kids and adults. Toe Up Sock Techniques
$40 for two 2-hour sessions
Learn to cast on at the toe and to turn a heel for a sock knit from the toe to the cuff using the Magic Loop technique.
Supplies: You'll need a 50 gram ball of white or light-colored worsted weight yarn and a 40 inch size 7 circular needle. Lace Charts
$20 for one 2-hour session
Many knitters find it easier to knit lace when the pattern is charted. In this class, you'll learn what charts are and how to read them. You'll leave ready to begin your first charted project! Supplies: You'll need 50 grams of white or light-colored DK-weight yarn and size 9 needles. Edgar

Edgar is a cleverly constructed scarf that takes advantage of yarns with slow color changes like Noro Kureyon or Silk Garden. It's a fantastic project for new knitters to learn to decrease and to cast on additional stitches, and it makes a great gift! Supplies: You'll need 50 or 100 grams of worsted weight yarn and size 7 or 8 needles. We recommend the Noro yarns listed above, Crystal Palace Mochi Plus or Taos. Blue Sky Alpacas Baby Beanie and Mittens set is an adorable gift for the little one in your life. And for beginning knitters, it's a great way to learn or to practice knitting in the round with double-pointed needles. 
Supplies: You'll need 2 to 3 hanks of Blue Sky Melange or Sport Weight, depending on the size you wish to make, size 7 dpns, stitch markers and a tapestry needle. Pattern included in class fee. Kitty Hat

Blue Sky Alpacas Kitty Hat is a whimsical addition to your winter wardrobe - and a seriously warm hat! The Kitty Hat uses the Magic Cast On, has a unique construction, and is sized from baby to adult large. Great for beginner and intermediate knitters. 
Supplies: You'll need 2 hanks of Blue Sky Suri Merino yarn, each in a different color, 16 and 24 inch size 7 circular needles, a size G/6 (4mm) crochet hook, stitch markers and a tapestry needle. Pattern included in class fee. Little Colonnade
$40 for two 2-hour sessions
Triangular neckerchiefs and shawls make great accessories and fantastic gifts. Little Colonnade is a perfect introduction to triangular shawls that begin at the center of the neck and to lace charts and knitting. Supplies: You'll need 355 yards of fingering weight yarn such as Koigu KPM or Tosh Sock, a 24 inch size 4 circular needle, stitch markers, and a tapestry needle. $20 for one 1.5-hour session
Crochet motifs like granny squares and hexagons are fun to make and can be used for blankets and garments. You'll learn to create a few basic shapes and to sew them together. Supplies: You'll need 100 grams of white or light colored worsted weight yarn, a size H/7 (4.5mm) crochet hook, locking stitch markers, and a tapestry needle. Meet Veronik AverySaturday, January 23 from 12 noon to 3 pm Join us in welcoming Veronik Avery to Loop for the first time! Veronik’s designs have appeared in knitting magazines like Knitty - you may recognize her very popular Lace Ribbon Scarf - in books like Knitting Socks with Hand Painted Yarn, and in yarn company publications. In 2007, Veronik’s first book was published, Knitting Classic Style: 35 Modern Designs Inspired by Fashion’s Archives. Last year, Veronik opened her own yarn company, St-Denis. She began with a wool yarn called Nordique and a magazine featuring patterns, articles, and inspiration. Come meet Veronik on Saturday, January 23 from 12 noon to 3 pm.
